A friend asked me to bid on a 6'6" rug for her last night which I did. Total comes to about £90. She has rung this morning and said she's checked her current rug and its a 6'9" so obviously got it wrong and doesn't want the 6'6" because it will be too small. How do I get out of having to buy it?!!

I'd tell your friend that it's tough luck, she needs to buy it off you and then relist it.
She could have called you earlier to tell you!
If I was said friend that's certainly what I'd do as it's my mistake. You were just being kind and helping her out.

Nice rug. I'm after a HW ideally though. Sorry.

I've sent the person an email and hopefully they'll understand. I've had it done to me before and just gritted my teeth and relisted the item!!

Fingers crossed it all goes ok.

it does clearly say that if you put in a bid you are in a contract - so I would make it clear to your vendor that you will honour this if she can't sell to the next person and your friend will just have to pay up!
