Just a rant really, I use to use my ebay account to sell all my horsey stuff but have been the victim of so many scams recently. The latest one. I posted an item out the day I recieved payment on PayPal. I listed the item as being posted Royal Mail 2nd class. When it came to posting the amount I charged actually covered first class so I sent it this way. The buyer contacted me 4 day after the listing finished to say they havnt recieved the item and according to ebay I have to offer a full refund including postage. They now have items for sale very similar to what I sold them but I can't prove they are the same. Even with proof of posting I now have to give a full refund. So it has cost me the price of listing the item (ebay won't refund) and the cost of postage to loose my item. I'm out of pocket and feeling bitter about using ebay. This isn't the first time buyers seem to take the mick and be supported by ebay.

Does anyone know of other sites to sell horse stuff on?

You will be able to claim the cost of the item and the postage from the Royal Mail, its a pain and you have to wait a while but you will get your money back. The best way is to send everything recorded and add the extra cost to your postage.

Bd website? Never heard of it..... Sorry for being silly. I did originally only post recorded delivery but then you get the nasty messages about delivery charges. Are couriers better than Royal Mail for proving the item was delivered?

Royal mail is the problem here... most of the courrier firms can be used one of by opening a parcel2go account. Items can be collected from an address of your choice and are automatically tracked... and you can check that they have been signed for.

Always always ALWAYS use recorded delivery when selling online, regardless of which website you are using.

There are people out there who will scam you for a refund as soon as the item arrives with them and they see you have no proof. I have been caught out that way, and even though I have a friend in Royal Mail who was able to actually speak to the postie who delivered it to the scammer's address, so I know it definitely got there, because I had sent it first class with no signature I had no valid proof it had arrived.

I've sold on and bought stuff on Preloved before.

Worth it as you don't have to pay a final fee (like on ebay where they take a % of the final selling price). Sold a hacking jacket on there before as only wanted £10 for it and didn't want to have to pay eBay's fees! Only donwside is unlike eBay, nobody is commited to buying the item. Almost gave up selling the jacket as on 3 occassions someone (3 different people!) said they wanted it, would buy and be around at the weekend to collect. On each occassion the person never showed and only told me they didn't need it anymore after I chased them. What was more annoying was on each occassion I'd had other people interested and told them it wasn't available anymore and had cancelled my weekend plans to wait around for these people to collect!
