Anyone know if you're covered for a brand new item arriving in a ripped and torn box? I bought a scooter for my son's birthday on Friday and its arrived packaged only in a single layer of brown wrapping paper. The outer paper was not ripped or torn but when I opened the wrapping this is what the scooter's box looked like http://s1123.photobucket.com/albums/l553/master-spiritus/Scooter%20packaging%2019th%20Sept%202011/
I contacted the seller and queried whether the box had been packaged damaged (since I can't see how the inside box could be torn like this without the thin paper wrapping being torn, ripped or dented - which it wasn't.) They've replied that the scooter and its box were in perfect nick when it left then and that it's tough luck that the box was damaged in the post. Deep sigh.... where do I stand? The scooter IS okay inside the box but as I was buying it as a gift and as brand new and boxed, I was expecting it arrive in undamaged condition.
