Ebay reserve help

My daughters new horse came with some tack which included a saddle that clearly did not fit him. We were going to throw the old saddle away until someone noticed that it was a Barnsby saddle and suggested selling it on ebay.

We dont know the exact size but will measure if we decide to sell it, but would guess its 17.5-18.5" and probably a medium fit. Its a GP saddle and in reasonable condition though obviously used and needs a good clean.

We dont have a clue how much these saddles would go for so my question is whether we should put a reserve on it or put it in with no reserve and see what it makes (if anything!)

Hope I'm not breaking any forum rules by asking this - I'm sure someone will tell me if I am!

I do sell and buy a fair number of things on ebay and would suggest that if you are auctioning it put it on at a 99p start for a 7 or 10 day period ending on a Sunday evening. If there is no interest and it looks as though it is not going to make what you think it is worth then pull the listing. A low start price will get more people interested and you could create a bidding war!!

Would it not be worth cleaning the saddle up and trading it in when you buy a replacement?

Have already got a replacement as we guessed the saddle didn't fit. We think the one he came with is a medium, his new one is a wide!

We were going to just throw it away as we didn't think it would be worth much until someone pointed out it was a Barnsby. I have never sold on ebay before so don't have a clue about reserves etc.

Pop it on eBay. Don't forget to measure it up in inches on every possible angle/line as will be asked silly questions.
And saddles weigh a fair bit so have at similar listings to see what the p&p is going to be.

Reserves are fairly pointless and eBay charges for them

If you list it tomorrow, listing at free for private buyers, therefore I would put the minimum you are prepared to get it go for as the asking price

If it doesn't sell it cost you nothing!
