Ebay & Saddles

Has anyone sold/bought saddles on ebay?

Experiences good or bad?

I'm in a saddle "pickle" (to put it politely) just now so was looking to see the options around for disposing of/acquiring saddles in good nick.

Thanks!

I bought my jeffries falcon hawk event saddle for #150 ! Fitted perfectly

have done both, sold and bought, i find when you buy you get a good price, but when you sell, you might not get as much as you like!!! no problems with people either way all went ok for me!! (is a bit of a risk, and i feel have always been quite lucky)

We have bought and sold saddles on Ebay. We have not had a bad experience, although some peoples ideas about measuring a saddle are slightly off.

We have bought cheap and expensive, our best buy to date was a really nice continental leather saddle for 99p (£15 postage), shame it does not fit any pony or horse we have tried it on! The other is a really fantastic old English leather saddle for £12 plus P&P. It fits our Newfie gelding perfectly and is really comfortable.

We have not made any serious money selling unwanted saddles on, but we've not lost anything significant either.

Bought a wintec nearly 2 weeks ago, paid immediately with paypal, still not had it!!! have just mailed seller as i need it for tues when the baby goes away to be broken.

I have bought and sold - they didnt fit!! which of course is the main problem with buying a saddle on ebay, I didnt quite get my money back on them- they cost a lot to post be sure to put enough postage on.

I have bought several, then with changes of horses have sold them for a similar amount. I try to stick to Bates/Wintec/Saddle Company so that they can be easily adjusted. Have bought some fabulous saddles at reasonable prices over the years.

Not bought any, only sold, all have been in excellent condition and well known brands, all have sold well across the range from Wintec to Devoucoux.

If you describe the items correctly, use good photos and are realistic with your prices it can be a pretty easy way to sell. Biggest problem I had was finding boxes big enough to pack them in!

Sold one - and had a nightmare.

Measured it correctly. Explained all about it. Showed photos with points of where we had measured from. Explained it was very narrow. Posted it promptly.

Then had a 'significantly not as described' dispute. The reason - too narrow!!!

I put my year old Barnsby up on ebay and didn't sell it! Starting price was £375 and they retail at a grand......not sure why it didn't get any bids!

Have sold on there, and looking to again. Not sure would buy, as a saddle stamped a medium for example, could have been flocked to fit a specific horse, or adjusted. Never had a prob selling though

Bought a Collegiate Dressage saddle last week and am so pleased with it. Got it for a really good price. It has the adjustable gullet, have to say I would only buy adjustable saddles off ebay.... Morse likely to fit...

I find it's the most affordable way to buy saddles - I buy them then get them fitted, or if they are a really bad fit I sell them on again
