Just a bit of a heads up to anyone thinking of selling saddles ect on Ebay....

I have recently sold a set of clippers, as described & very cheap to a guy on Ebay. Posted first class as soon as he bought them so he recieved them the following day.
That afternoon I get a ranty message saying they aren't as described and are fake as they have no brand on them. This particular clipper (paddock 2000) has no brand.
So I sent him a reply to this effect along with a link to the manufactors website, so he could compare them.
Buyer Then opens a SNAD case, still claiming they are fake (they were bought by me directly from the manufactors website, have been used about three times and had been meticulously cleaned prior to sale) and requesting a 'partial refund' In other words he wants to keep the clippers AND get some cashback. As these were sold at a fraction of the price they are worth I refused, offering a full refund instead.
Whilst this is happening the funds from the clippers have been put on hold by Paypal....
Of course the buyer then went quiet, this was the 12th april, yesterday I Emailed Ebay requesting that they close the case and free my Paypal funds, as the buyer is clearly not interested in returing them.

Todays respose from Ebay;

"Thank you for contacting eBay Customer Support about the clippers (item ****) you sold to “****” that was not as described. I understand that your buyer has not posted the item back as you requested.

We would like to inform you that eBay Customer Support has made a final decision about this case and we have asked the buyer to return the item. While waiting for the item to be returned to you, we have placed the case on hold for 10 days.

If the buyer failed to return the item within the 10 day period you no longer have to do anything.

We trust this information is helpful and wish you all the best on eBay in the future"

So now I have to wait a further 10 days to see if this individual is going to;
A Ignore
B Return Clippers
C Return broken/damaged clippers.

Whilst my money is still held to ransom by Ebay
Looking at the forums it appears that this Partial Refund thing is a trick a lot of buyers are doing these days. So just be aware.

I recently had one who managed to get a refund through ebay after having already been refunded by me. I then argued with ebay that I would not refund them (ebay) what they had paid her as I'd already refunded her and given them the details of the refund. I ended up suspended and it took a lot of grief to get them to reinstate me and return me the money that I'd eventually had to reimburse ebay because sellers were getting notices that as I was suspended they didn't need to send stuff I'd already paid for!

After getting a double refund the cheeky cow left me a negative as well. She is at the top of my blocked bidders list now.

Something similar happened to me too.

I sold some Jod boots that were in excellent condition and got a very rude message saying they weren't as described as they had a small paint mark on them. They had been worn twice on a show ground. I asked for photographic evidence (which was not forthcoming) and ended up doing a partial refund to protect my feedback.

Today somebody has tried to start an "item not received" case against me even though in my listing I say up to 5 working days for posting, today is day 4!!!

Am rapidly losing faith in ebay.......:(

On the other side of things I have just bought a lovely saddle from a lady via eBay and am delighted with it and paid her straight off and left positive feedback.

I wonder if there is a way eBay can let sellers set criteria for buyers ie how many purchases over a certain amount they have to have made, how long on eBay etc. A bit like 'gold' seller status but for buyers.

I always check a sellers feedback before I buy, a couple of negatives are fine too many and I avoid. It would be handy if as a seller you could check buyers feedback and refuse their bid if you deemed it necessary.

I think a lot of the issues have come about as a result of sellers no longer having the chance to leave negative feedback for dodgy buyers. Buyers know this and so are able to blackmail sellers into giving out partial refunds, with the threat of negative feedback if they dont comply. I am thoughly sick of Ebay/Paypals attitude toward sellers.
As a result I am now only going to sell larger things on there that are suitable for cash on collection.

I closed my ebay and paypal accounts after I got screwed over for a saddle and the money  Sent saddle, buyer says thanks its here, then says it isnt there, opens a dispute and gets a refund. Absolutely crazy.

I had a simalar experience with ebay. It seems that ebay always side with the buyer now. I always make sure I have photos of item before sending and a clear discription.

I know the feeling. I sold some vintage dollhouse windows, woman opened dispute for INAD then I complained and next thing you know EBAY refunded her on their own backs and she got to keep the windows too. (Granted I got to keep the payment I sold them for) but thats not the point she still she got her full payment back and kept the windows windows.Blocked the buyer now. There are some VERY cheeky people on ebay.BEWARE and ALWAYS::: Send RECORDED with signiture required and that is has tracking.ALWAYS.

WE havent sold anything since on Ebay there arealot of scammers - we realised after we had got talking to people - They guy in theprocessof the case threatened to come down a smash our windows and then tried to say we threatened him - weirdo he used to buy size XXXXXXXL Clothing and apparently he had a Audi tt 2010 plate - if owned one of those he wouldnt be buying our crappy old stereo - Then he claimed we had a peugeot 106....when he came to collect the stereo...we havea Honda Civic 2009 plate..thereare some real weirdos :)

The key thing is to follow the rules, always post with a signature on receipt method. If anyone comes to collect having paid via PayPal make them sign a receipt

If you refund make sure you go into the original payment and do a refund, the only way this can happen twice is if you sent the buyer money, in which case you'd have to open a dispute, which you can only do if you sent a payment for "goods"

However this can not stop scam artists, and the try and buy brigade
My pet peeve is that if you sell a brand new saddle, the person can use and try it (so no longer new) and send it back. You have to pay the postage to them and they have the pleasure of trying and you end up with goods which are no longer "new"

One reason I'm put off selling saddles with PayPal

Yes RING ebay they are pretty helpful, just explain the situation. They always help me.I make those lifelike dolls called reborns, one buyer opened a dispute saying it wasnt as described, omg you should of seen the state she made of the doll, trying to say I sent it like that, torn body, leg hanging off, errrrrrr I dont think so,paypal refunded her, after I got my reborn back in a right mess,SO I phoned paypal and appealed the case and they said I could have the money back bit less that originally sold for,or I could of got full payment if I sent it to the USA but that would cost too much.So I am glad I appealed the case and WON.So I got a payment but my poor reborn, looked like two kids had been playing tug of war with her.So I had to put a new cloth body on her and now shes in my 14 year olds bedroom.
Some people on ebay Grrrrrrrrrrr
Got a negative feedback too.Lovely.
