Midl rant I have wanted a specific brand of saddle for years, a Pathfinder (Keith Bryans make), bought one on ebay that was advertised specifically as a Pathfinder saddle and before completing payment thought 'thats odd, it doesnt look quite right'. Contacted vendor, its a Pathfinder, asked about the makers stamp, then she says its not a pathfinder its made by a differnt business endorsed by Keith bryan, and when seh said used a couple of times its actually over 4 years old. called Keith Bryan (hes lovely), hes never heard of the other maker and doesnt ensdorse anyones saddles. Went back to vendor and explained that she had clearly been misled by whom she bought it from and who then says its all my fault that she misdecribed the saddle so i should pay for it! Funnily enough I wont and have reported it to ebay and sent emails, photos, copies of email from vendor etc. But...

This is the last thing I will ever buy on ebay as the last few transactions have been nightmares with an unused Anky gillet having what looks like food marks on it, a new dressage bridle that was full size except the thratlash which would have just about faftneed around a welsh ponys head! I used to love ebay but now I feel like most the listings are jokes. Sorry just had to vent.

They won't make you complete the sale but it's infuriating when you think you've found something you really want, only to discover it's nothing of the sort :(

im steering more and more away from ebay after experiencing similar problems!
My last straw was a wintec that I purchased on there that when I got it home stank of horse urine and the screws on it were so mangled that I couldnt change the gullet! Because she never said in the listings it was able to change the gullet I didnt have a leg to stand on despite all wintec 500's being changeable gullets.
Well done to you for spotting the problems before paying- it would be much harder once you had parted with the cash!

I also used to be a mega ebay shopper, but now i find it is just not the same with good not quite as describled, as had over £60 of horse stuff i paid for (and £20 P&P) go missing but as the seller came up with a post office signed for slip ebay believed her even though i pointed out the slip showed a date before i even paid for it, a post code that was not mine and a signature i did not know.
They still went with the seller so i lost £80 of my hard earned money, now i wont buy anything off there that cost more than £5 as i am not prepared to lose any more money than that

Report the item to ebay as a counterfeit along with the emails and the seller won't have a leg to stand on.

Good you found out before paying.

As for your previous problems you should have reported them as "significantly not as described" and asked for refunds as a new/unused item should be that and a wrongly made bridle that wouldn't fit a standard horse of the size listed is not as described unless measurements or comments are made in the listing.

Re "said used a couple of times its actually over 4 years old." I have a three year old saddle that has been used twice!

Sorry to hear of your poor experience. I had a bad experience and am in the middle of another. But I have also had excellent buys off Ebay. I really check the feedback carefully now, and try to find what I want with 100% feedback and lots of it, must be over 1000.

That said it is not infallible as I am really p*ssed off as I have just received a 6-3ft sheet for Fany as BNWT and it is dirty, obviously has been used and washed. Not at all as described.

But I must say generally I have had good experiences. I like the buy it now new stuff for horses. I find the equestrian sellers who are professionals are usually cheaper or have things we don't get out here in the boonies.

Hope you get sorted.

If you still have this then you can get a screw driver that "digs" into the head and "keeps" hold of it so you can unscrew them. The urine bit I cann't help with.

Sadly there are some sellers that are less than honest which is sad as most bussiness relies on trust and this sort of thing ruins it for the good ones, Im wondering if this is the reason im struggling to get a decent offer on my lorry , because so many people are having a bad expiriance with misdiscribed items so they arnt looking for high value stuff on ebay anymore???? ive watched quite a few items that looked a sensible price and they didnt sell
or is it that there is no money about.....
