I've dithered for ages about buying a second hand dressage saddle and have decided now is the time.....

I gather that second hand saddles are going fairly cheaply on ebay but obviously can't return them if it doesn't fit

so, would you rather risk ebay or go to saddles direct so you can return them if they're wrong for the horse?

Or if you have any other suggestions.....

Thankies

i sold my dressage saddle on ebay some one got a bargain Some people exchange but you can always sell it again if it's not use you never no you might make a profit.

I suppose it depends how quickly you want a dressage saddle that fits. You could take some time on ebay buying and reselling until you get the correct saddle but should get a quicker result on Saddles Direct. You will need a good idea of what suits you and the horse to buy successfully off e-bay.

I bought a gorgeous brown leather dressage/show saddle from e-bay - its the best-fitting saddle I ve ever had, although prior to that I bought an absolute donkey, which I then sold on....did look at saddles direct though, would be tempted to go there when I have more cash to spend (whenever that may be, with 3 horses and 2 kids, prob never!!!)

Most well known brands have the saddle size stamped on them, however the saddle may have been re flocked to change the size slightly.

I bought a real bargain on ebay that came from Germany. I had the flocking stripped out and re reflocked because it was a bit hard, this meant the saddle was adjusted very well for my horse.

It was still cheaper than buying from a shop here.
