yesterday when i came to see her i tied her up and started grooming and noticed at the top of her legs she had about 8 small spots on the top of her leg, there not scabby or anything i was just wondering what it could be and does anyone have any ideas?
she did go out without a rug yesterday has been a while sence she has been out naked?
any ideas?

You'll have to describe them more than that.

Google bot eggs and see if it looks like them.

Can you squeeze pus out of them?

Are they flat to the surface or raised bumps? What colour are they?

Oh my life...how long have you had horses for?

*deep breath*. No. Fly bites are normal. Will be mostly prevented by having a fly rug on or by applying muchos fly spray but tbh I wouldn't bother, its never going to kill them.

You only need to worry if they get puss in them, or they don't go away for a long time. But she's not about to keel over, don't worry.

If she's normally been out in a fly rug (I presume you mean flyrug?) and didn't yesterday then probably just flybites or some re-action to something in the grass if she's been laid down in the sunshine etc

First time I saw fly bites I panicked :rolleyes:

Haven't really noticed them 'till Dizz this year. Little Cob doesn't seem affected, and I don't remember Tiggy having an issue (other than her ears) either.

Horses. Always something to stress us :);)

If they have puss in them then thats one helluva big spot. Miaow.

Why does everyone treat this poster as if she is some sort plague carrier? She is unfailingly polite and grateful for replies and at least she asks instead of being an arrogant know-all.

Ditto this, we all had to learn somewhere, and better to keep asking than carry on without questioning things.

OP - my first pony was called Ebony! Hope your Ebony's spots go away, as the others say sounds like either fly bites or even a rash from some kind of plant. Keep an eye on them, hopefully they will just get smaller and disappear over the next couple of days.

She owns her own horse and doesnt know what a fly bite looks like...thats why I object! Lack of experience much...And yes, it would be a big spot if it got puss in it because it would have got infected...hence why I said then she should worry!

I wholeheartedly agree .....

A puss is a small friendly animal that says miaow. Pus is what comes out of a nasty spot or boil.

I never knew that! Thanks for correcting me. For some reason I always think it should be puzz and have to correct myself - now I'll have to correct myself again! Haha.
