I currently ride a pony and a horse at the pre-training/training level in eventing. I have heard mixed opinions on both ecogold and ogilvy. I want a half pad/saddle pad that keeps my saddle in place, doesn't "scrunch up" and also provides protection for my horses back. These pads are all pricey and I need to be confident in my decision before I purchase them. Also, will ecogold or ogilvy last longer?
Thank you!:)

You won't find much support for either of them here, I suspect!

Does your saddle fit? If it does then adding a half pad will add more bulk and make it too narrow for your horse.
You mention that you want a pad to hold the saddle in place - does it actually move when you're riding? If it's doing this then it doesn't fit and you need to get a fitter out.

You shouldn't need anything, not even a cotton saddlecloth, under a saddle that fits properly. Adding a thick half-pad means that you'll be sat further off your horses back; not ideal.
