Just a heads up in case anyone is waiting on items that they have ordered from Edgemere being sent out.

The website, Facebook page and eBay store are down.

I’ve dealt with them in person for years, and have always had good service from them. Whilst I hope that it is a temporary blip, it doesn’t sound good.

Oh! I like their website, what a shame

Thanks for that. It shows that Edgemere are under a First Gazette notice for compulsory strike-off.

I believe that companies can come back from that if they can prove that they are solvent, but by closing down the physical shop and shutting down all their on line presences it doesn’t sound as if they are.

The next door business selling and leasing trailers, which is a separate company but had close connections to Edgemere, is still open and running.

Looking at their 2021 & 2022 accounts it looks like physical cash may have been the issue. In 2022 they owed a lot more than they had owed to them which slows down the turnover of available cash which quickly strangles trading ability, and the overdraft facility was reduced.

Hopefully they can phoenix from this quickly and learn from any decision making that may have lead to this situation.

I like Edgemere too, and hope they find a way forwards.

I know this is ridiculous, but this news has really upset me. I've only shopped at Edgemere twice, but each time it was a great experience with staff who were really knowledgeable and cared. I'm going to make more of an effort to buy from local tack shops and not from the internet or general sports shops like Decathlon, even if it costs me more. We're in danger of losing a lot of expert knowledge if specialist stores keep closing down. This applies to specialist stores on lots of disciplines, not just riding.

The moral of the story is if your company is really struggling and owes a lot of money just declare it bankrupt and reopen it under a new name as a slightly different venture and you can get away with owing everyone that is owed money .
Doesn’t sit right does it .
No, it doesn’t, does it ☹️.

Is the trailer side of the business separate? That's never stopped trading has it
If I’m reading it right, the trailer side is listed as the owner of the new venture - the two were formerly extremely closely linked and in adjacent premises. But the trailer side didn’t go down the Swanee and is still trading.

The former manager of Edgemere wot went bust appears to be heading the new venture. The brass neck 😳.

There will be a lot of understandably very annoyed people out there.

I shall not be troubling them with any purchases.

Or me. It's a real shame because the staff I dealt with were incredibly helpful and keen to make sure I got what I needed.

I'll be buying from a small, more local place in future.

If the really helpful man was Paul (and he was very helpful) then he’s listed as office contact for the new shop according to the Facebook page.

Edited - really helpful man was Tom, not Paul.

It’s under Wilcox @ Edgemere.

The liquidation details of the old Edgemere store and the full list of creditors etc are all on line.

It's very common. I'm not sure how some people can sleep at night. 😡. We've been on the receiving end of people like this and it's not nice at all.

The one I’m thinking of is Tom. He worked there for years but I saw him at Hope Valley last time I went in.

You’re right, the really helpful chap that I remember too is Tom Hollins 🙈. He does seem to be working at Hope Valley now, his is the contact name for a job advert that HV have put out.

He always went the extra mile in store.
