Which would you rather take your horse too? Fred is going to have to be referred

but the vet thinks Glasgow and the friends think Edinburgh, which is best (specifically for an annoying lameness issue)??

Thankyou in advance

I've always used the Dick Vet and don't know much about Glasgow except they've got a good reputation. There is a third option now - the Clyde Vet practice in Lanark, which is state-of-the-art and is building a very good name for itself.

I've had a bit to do with both...and there isn't a lot of difference. Normally they just split you depending on whether your horse is closer to one or the other....so go to the nearest.
Hope Fred is ok.

Thanks Shilasdair, I hope he is ok too

Both Edinburgh and Glasgow are roughly the same distance from us so I was just going to go with the one that you guys advised. My vet certainly thought Glasgow would be better

Not a lot of difference IME - but vets do like to send you to either the place they trained, or their friends!

We lived near Glasgow so always went there.

Had a tour there last Feb with our RC and were very impressed at the new equine facilities

Thankyou April, I think Glasgow is the winner yay!! Now I just have to start the worrying process all over again

I can't wait to eventually find out what his lameness issue is. It has been quite a long drawn out process but it's becoming some sort of weird obsession and I HAVE to get to the bottom of it

We have had two horses treated recently at Edinburgh.. the treatment my mums horse received was great.. my horse was treated for a lameness issue, however prob just my luck but the particular vet i got was a bit different re her thinking of his treatment, perhaps due to the fact he wasnt a mega expensive event horse! However i eventually got the treatment he needed after i lost my temper and had a "chat" with her, I now have another vet at Edinburgh treating my horse who is much better. They aint very good at returning calls to let you know how your horse is tho if its has to stay in.. If he needs more treatment in the future which he might, i would be tempted to take him to the Clyde.

My mother had a pony at Dicks for colic, she couldn't have been more pleased with them - Vets were very sympathetic, explained everything in laymans terms and returned every call. You have to take into account how busy they are and how tie consuming their job can be, they can't always ring you on the dot as they obviously see to emergency cases so don't know where they will be at any one given time.

Wouldn't like to say which for lameness though as we went down to see Prof Clegg at Liverpool with our lame mare!!
