I am going to a dressage clinic held in Wantage, Oxon (bit of a trek from Surrey, but think it will be worth it!) with dressage trainer Edward Creamer.

I have had a lesson with him before when he used to come down here to teach occasionally but that was like 3 years ago.

Anyone got any experience of training with him? It looks like his clinics are running once a month from August and are heavily discounted, so if I enjoy the one in August I think I will keep going to the clinics each month. The link is here:

I have a friend who goes to him once a week and she swears by his methods (she has gone from Novice to Advanced Medium with him).

Does anyone train with him regularly??

Ohh, that isn't too far from me. What is his approach to teaching like? I am a stupid wet sap and really struggle with my confidence so need an calm unflustered approach to lessons, not a shouty 'got on with it' style as I loose my head!! My current instructor is fantsatic for this and we are making brilliant progress. I would be interested in trying a few other instructors as one offs though.

ThePony - Sounds like you are exactly the same as me! When I was last taught by him my confidence was at rock bottom as, quite frankly, I was over horsed at the time and my lovely new girlie was taking the mick out of me constantly.

However, Edward was really calm and took us right back to basics. I think I learnt more in one lesson with him than I have done since! We are still working on the stuff that he taught us three years later!

Also, my friend who has lessons with him is exactly the same as me - she worries all the time and gets really nervous. He has worked really well with her.

You should give it a go and I may see you there!!

I'll agree with everything GoldenMatch has said, I used to hate dressage, but since I've been having lessons from him my horse is going better than ever, and I actually really enjoy it! I tend to overthink stuff and am a worrier, and he's fantastic, explains stuff really, really, well so I understand why I'm doing what I'm doing. :)

Wow, he does sound fantastic! Are you expected to be at a certain level, on a shiney dressage horse? Due to rider nerves we compete at prelim, but happily schooling elim at home, on my big grey oversized pony! Would we stand out like a sore thumb?

I've had two lessons with Edward at my own yard and he was brilliant - those two lessons have completely transformed my horses way of going! Am desperate to have more regular lessons with him but he's always so busy :(

Am hoping my new horsebox will be finished soon so I can go to some clinics at his!

ThePony - I really don't think that you have to be on a shiney dressage horse. He has a page on his website called 'Dressage campaign'. Judging from what is written there I don't think you would have anything to worry about!

Also, my girl is not exactly what you would call a 'dresage horse'! She's a welshie cross (totally unknown breeding..!) and is as ponyfied as they come. Loving the oversized ponies! :p

Hi everyone!

Edward is FAB! I may be biased as I've been training with him for the last 3 years (and am on livery at his yard) but he has trained us from Nov/Elem to Adv Med/Adv.

His approach to teaching is great - he explains everything so clearly and makes sure the basics are established before introducing tricks etc.

The results his clients get from their horses speaks for itself as to his teaching.

To those who asked, you do not need to be at a certain level, and you definitely do not need a sparkly dressage horse!!

Ed is just fantastic at training horses in the right way and getting the best out of every horse regardless of their age, shape, size or breed.

You will have a great lesson!!

p.s book on to his clinic quickly - it is filling fast!
