There is a lot of talk that Laura should have won based on their tests...and whilst it wasn't Totilas' best test, I can't help but think Totilas and Edward Gal bring something new to the table - besides flashy movements!

That is - rider finesse

It is something I think only the Spaniard on the Andalucian shared with Gal - and that was quietness of the rider.

I'm British and I'm really pleased for Laura - but you can't help but see her having to work A LOT harder than these two other guys.

Does anyone agree with that, or have any views? I've not seen anyone comment on this yet.

i personally think
we should all be applauding laura rather than picking and moaning about her riding ,she is only 24 and has done fantastically well to help bring home team silver and two individual medals

she is no doubt going to be a star in the dressage world and i think its very exiting for GB to have her on our teams , being this good and coping so well with the presure that comes with that sort of occasion at such a young age is amazing and she is only going to get better ,bring on 2012 :D

This. Also SPORTS PERSONALITY OF THE YEAR!!! I think so! :D :D :D

Maybe she did have to work harder, I spotted the hands, but I also think that 'Alf' is a much bigger horse than Totilas, and to keep a horse that big off his forehand is a difficult job.

I personally found Laura's test much more enjoyable to watch, but then 'Alf' is my kind of horse, and I'm not really a Totilas fan.

I also prefered Lauras test. Not a Totilas fan to be honest, just my opinion.

I agree. Fair enough, maybe she could've been a bit quieter but could you ride at that level? Perform those movements? And stay extremely quiet?
I don't think we should be complaining to be honest, she is a fantastic lady and a credit to the sport and Britain :)

Pacey, I agree completely, and feel the same. Edward is just amazing to watch, and he always has been - he was the same with Lingh, Gribaldi, all of the horses I can think of. He is such a naturally talented rider.

I am so glad he scored five straight 10s for his riding in the GPS, he SO deserves them.

I think they all done very well and love both Alf and Totilas, but i think Totilas just has that bit more expression than Alf so did deserve the win in my opinion.

Absolutely, I had a mini cheer to myself when I heard the commentator say he'd got straight 10s for rider position.

It would be interesting to see if they swapped horses for a few months, what the result would be....

I'm agreed Pacey

Sorry to say that Laura's not the most elegant of riders.

Also, the american chap was flapping his legs like he was riding a bike ...lol

i'm all for savante equitation ....the spaniard should have placed higher.

Glad i'm not the only one who thought this!
