Hey everyone im new here!

i need your help!

i have lost my stable but still got my grazing at my livery yard! i have a gelderlander who is gunna be needing to stay out all winter till they get new stables, he has a shelter in his field obvisly lol

what can i do to help him survive the winter without the stable?

thanks i advance!

Welcome to the forum! How come you have lost your stable? As he already has a shelter in his field, make sure he is well rugged (without being over hot in the day) and has as much hay as possible, in addition to his feeds. As long as he is warm and has lots of fuel to munch on, he should keep his weight on and be fine. If you are going to clip him, just take the sweaty bits off and leave as much coat on as possible. Lots of horses live out (including TBs and Arabs) and are absolutely fine.

All 3 of mine live out alll year round with good rugs and plenty of shelter and food. One of them is 26 and throughbred build, they do absolutely fine, I only see them cold when the weather is absolutely horrid (live on the side of a big hill near Newcastle!) so don't worry.
