I know this is a completely self indulgent post but I am smiling from ear to ear. He's been away for three weeks to be backed and today I finally sat on him and did a little work, and it was amazing! I can't wait for him to come home next weekend and start our ridden adventures together. Here's a pic :)

:D :D :D :D :D

Really pleased for you. My youngster has gon away today to be started so hopefully I'll be doing what you'r doing in a few weeks time.

Its a fab feeling isn't it? I break my horses in myself and there is nothing like being up there for the first time.

Thanks guys, it is a great feeling :) Definitely in time for the lovely weather and he's been so good about it all, just hope he keeps going in that direction.

I'm sure there will be lots more people smiling from ear to ear when they get on their babies, it's a fab feeling :)

Congrats mine has gone to be rebacked as he was immature last year and i get him back next week can't wait he has been trying it on though and chucked his rider off lol

Aww, well done - I rode my homebred baby for the first time today too - it felt fantastic!! I share your delight!! All my family and most of my friends just don't get it, but I've been walking on air today and I bet you're feeling the same!

xena_wales - I am indeed, and I completely get why you are too :) Especially if you homebred them, I've had my boy for two years and it's so brilliant to be backing him but if you've seen them grow from a foal it must be even better

welshied - Oooo what a naughty little boy, though I'm sure they'll get that sorted for you. My boy hasn't done any chucking (I think that's too much effort lol!) and has been very good, so fingers crossed we keep going in that direction :D

gonebananas - Enjoy the next year, I love having such a good relationship with my boy on the ground and really think it helps when it comes to the ridden part. Have a year of fun introducing him to as much as you can, I pretty much did everything up to the backing part with Harry and then sent him away for the actual backing and the girl has done a brilliant job with him, but she says you can definitely tell how much he had done before he got there and I think it's made the whole thing a lot smoother :)

elliecjno1 - Hehe definitely agree! I've had my boy for 2 years and it's been brilliant but I am so looking forward to be able to go and do things with him! I'm hoping he'll be able to turn his hoof at a little bit of everything but we will be taking it slowly as he is with me for life and there is no point rushing it. Does mean I can finally go hacking with everyone at my yard now, which is a good start hehe!

Thanks again everyone, I'm just so pleased.

Next part is going to be buying lots of tack things when he returns!! There's always money that can be spent when you have horses.... LOL!
