Took my ponio to a show yesterday, we've been to this show a couple of times already this year and always really enjoy it, but this time I was reeeeaaallly nervous about it

We did In hand M&M, came 6th out of 9
smile.gif
, judge said he has good movement and I needed to get him trotting out more. Then we did In hand best condition, came 4th
grin.gif
which I was very pleased with and means we have qualified for the Festival of Champions

Then we did the ridden classes and it all went a bit wrong!! I entered RC pony - last time we were there the jump was a teeny tiny x-pole - I get nervous about jumping and the max I have ever jumped, at home, on a good day when I'm feeling brave is 2ft. So imagine my shock when they put up a jump of at least 2ft6
crazy.gif
They then said they'd lower it for some of us who didn't want it that big - and put it down to 2ft. At which point I burst into tears

Everyone was so nice to me and so supportive, and the long and short of it is we did the jump in the end

The steward put it down for me and gradually built it up and everybody cheered when I did it and the photographer gave me this nice photo of me jumping (this is the jump before th big one as this photo came out best): http://www.photo-kinesis.co.uk/082308mooreland/c10/slides/IMG_4054.html
I had assumed we'd be last and wasn't even paying attention when the judge was calling people in but we came 6th out of 8

I was soooo pleased we got placed and so proud of my little pony for looking after his nervous wreck mummy

Then we did Senior Best Rider and Murphy decided he didn't want to move. It took all my strength to keep him trotting, and I really, really had to get after him to get him to canter and after arguing with me for 5 minutes he gave in and agreed to do the"extended canter"
crazy.gif
smile.gif
We came 5ft out of 5, didn't deserve to be any higher as I was the opposite of elegant, and got a PINK rosette so I'm happy!!

I was quite worried about what was wrong with him in the last class, until we got back to the trailer, he stopped dead, breathed a big sigh of relief and did a massive wee
crazy.gif
He is always unco-operative if he really needs a wee.

I wanted to manage to get him into an outline for even just 5 minutes of the show, and we did it, so despite crying in the middle of a class and the least impressive attempt at a Best Rider class ever, I'm happy
grin.gif

Well done if you got the far, it is a bit long

Pics will be in the gallery in a mo!

That's fabulous Bex, and he realy does look good atm.

At least you managed a 2ft jump... last time I did one nearly that height I lost both stirrups and came about 3ft out of the saddle, thelwell style

. Wouldn't have been so bad but I was showing a client a pony at the time...

so a big well done, you'll have lots of practicing to do over the winter and the fact you came out of the class smiling speaks volumes about the wonderful Murphy!

He's so cute

Yeah well done you, sounds like despite the ups and downs that you had a great day. How fabulous that you did that jump too - yeah! I am glad I am not the only one to cry in a class, the one and only time I attempted RC horse class I fell off in the warm up and never made it into the ring and when I went into the next class I was so nervous I burst into tears and had to retire - so a huge well done to you and that dude Murphy!

You did very well and the pony looked lovely. I was there supporting a friend since it's just down the road and was more than a little shocked when the guy whacked the fence up for the ponies, we assumed he was taking the mick, but apparently not! It was a lovely atmosphere though, it was really nice that everyone cheered everyone else over the fences!

I had assumed he was taking the mick too at first - was quite a big jump for some of the little ones (and the wimpy big ones

) But as you say, it was a lovely atmosphere - absolutely everyone was so nice to me, from the little girls in the class, to the organisers, the photographer and everyone watching

Glad to hear I'm not the only one to cry in a class!! I nearly did retire but then was determined to get over the jump. The steward said I approached it looking like I was hvaing an argument with myself - half of me terrified, the other half wanting to prove to myself that I could do it!!

Very, very proud of my pony for doing what he does best - looking after me when I fall to pieces!!

That's almost exactly what had happened to me in the warm up jumping a tiny x-pole, which really hadn't helped with my nerves. Murph leapt it like it was 2ft and I got catapulted into the air and ended up clinging on round his neck!!

Yep - definitely lots more practicing to take place this winter!!

Well done you and Murph, especially for the 4th in hand, they must be really happy with him and his condition.

[/ QUOTE ]

I was quite shocked TBH as I wasn't going to enter that class - his coat is quite faded and he's got a few scrapes, and he was half asleep!!
