Just taken Harley to agility and my trainer has told me he is ready to start competitions!!! YEAH!! So excited!

We are only going to enter steeplechases at 1st (which is just jumps and tunnels) as he is really good at those, when I get my body language right! He really should sack me sometimes!! He is getting good at the obstacles, but they are not perfect yet. But we've only been going for a few months every other week, so I'm really proud of him. :) :) :) I never expected to be ready for competition so early.

So photos I'm afraid, will drag someone along to take some soon! :)

Well done you and Harley!!

He's a lovely looking chap,I love pointers (used to have an english orange and white),would like another one when can talk OH into a second dog lol

Good luck for your comps,am sure you will both be fab:)

STOP wait back up...... 1-2-1'a with agility? so no other dogs there?

nope! Just me and H and the trainer. It was £12 for a private lesson for 1/2 an hour or £6 for a weekly group. So I do private fortnightly. I reckoned we'd get a lot more out of it and do more stuff than in a group (which must be at least 5/6 dogs?)

Totally fenced in too.

Obv at comps there are going to be lots of dogs there. I hope he'll keep his focus as he does love it (boings over jumps and through tunnels when he's not even meant to be!). But that is yet to be seen!!!

Thanks for all the lovely comments!! I love him to bits! :) :)

That'll be anther hour of my life scanning the tinterweb for 1-2-1 agility clubs!!!

What a handsome guy.

Lexie we will have to compare notes as I am starting Darcy next month, I too am hoping to show the collies a clean pair of heels:D.

The other night I was on youtube and found a video of a challenge of a collie against a Dobe. The challenge was a 60 pole weave and that Dobe left the collie for dead itwas amazing. I would post the link but Im cr*p with things like that.

Hmmmm back to the drawing board she wants £25 for 45 mins........ I love the ginger gobshite- but the bank manager does not!!

She said she would do 45 mins for £18.75.... so we are doing that!! Probably wont end up paying at all as she will probably throw us out after 5 mins for being too unruly!!

That's fab! Well done to both of you. Harley is such a handsome chap :)

1-2-1 sounds brilliant, there's usually about 5-6 dogs flying around where I go and the amount of food remnants there are and stuffed pockets drives me mad - poor Pads just wants to scoff the whole time!

Looking forward to pics and updates!

1-2-1 must be great. There are 4 or 5 of us in our group so if you get one that isn't a quick learner then you don't get to do much as they take all the time up.

I did hire the agility course today without the trainer for £5. I only stayed about 35 minutes as Poppy was getting tired. It was really good though as I got to really spend some time working on her contacts and a bit more time on the weaves which will really help.

I have also just discovered Susan Garret who is based in Canada and has been world champion several times. If you put her name into YouTube and watch some of her rounds they are amazing. She also does some great training DVDs. I have got the 2x2 weaving one (not relevant if you are training well with a different method) and a really great one on exercises using a maximum of 1 jump so great for doing at home. They are really interesting exercises with a lot of thought behind them from her own experience and I am really looking forward to starting to practice them (DVD only arrived last week)!!

Good luck with your competition

Ohh thats interesting- we have weave poles, a ring jump, normal jump, and a tunnel at home- just want to learn how to do it "properly"........... yet another thing I will no doubt be ordering........ :)
