Not earth shattering stuff I know but new to me as we've always had ours done before their first season.

How long will she keep dripping blood all over my house (how does anyone put up with that

)

She seems a bit out of sorts so do they get pmt or cramps like we do? ( I do realise how daft that sounds!)

Do I have to worry about her running off to find a mate or just them running off to find her?

How soon after her season can I have her speyed? And how much does it cost?

Probably about 3 weeks. Is it her first season, sometimes they're not as long & can be lighter. I always think the second week is worse.

I wouldn't worry about her running off to mate so much as something coming looking for her. Apparently a dog can smell a bitch in season from a great distance, don't know if that's an old wives tale though.

You see I would. My 1st dog was the product of a bitch jumping out of a window and clearing off to find a mate (evidently a large black male).

Lucily my girl is very tidy when in season & does not spot she keeps herself very clean.

Yes some bitches will go 'looking' for a date!

Vets generally say half way between seasons for spaying which is generally every 6 months so as Thistle says 12 weeks.

Not a silly question but yes they can get cramps/PMT, just like some mares get very moody when in season too!
