Duke has a spot just behind his withers, our vet looked at it when he did his jabs and said it was either an ingrowing hair or a fly bit which had since filled with collagen and to watch for any changes ie getting bigger or bleeding. Anyway today when we took his saddle off (he was a poly pad to protect from rubbing) it had popped, I squeezed a bit more out of it which he didn't mind then cleaned with hibiscrub and put aloe gel on then his fly rug. Thought I'd wait and see how it was tomorrow as I'm now inclined to think it was an ingrowing hair, any others ideas/tips appreciated

What came out when you squeezed it?

Also inclined to think in growing hair. You did the right thing with hibi and aloe gel. Carry on as is until it has cleared.

Mine had some sort of larvae in the same sort of place and that looked like a spot until you looked closely and saw the skin/shell of the larvae come out after it. The vet saw it and his main concern was that it was all out and then hibiscrub cleared it up quickly. I was advised to give it a few days to a week if there was any chance it would get sweaty under the saddle, even with a polypad.
