Have been on same yard for many years which is about 11 miles from home. As for the past 18 months I have worked 35 miles from home all the travelling has started to get to me as I am now doing a 90 mile round trip daily (20 mile detour to my yard) .
If I could pick up and move my current yard I would as it has everything I want and I'm (mostly) very happy there.
A space has come up at a yard about a mile away from home which I pass on my way too and from work. The closer yard is more expensive, but I would save a fortune on fuel. Overall I think I would be better off in winter but worse off in summer. I went to look this morning and although there are pro's and cons of each yard overall the close by yard seemed nice.
I'm tempted to give the new yard a go, but it seems a very scary prospect as I have been on the current yard for so long, and have friends and a support network there and would have to effectivley start again.
I'm sure my horse would settle okay as she settled very quickly when I bought her and moved her to my current yard.
I haven't even dicussed this with my sharer yet (I didn't want to rock the boat until I had looked at the possible new yard) and as she lives closer to my current yard I might lose her:-(
I guess worst case scenario I could always go back to my current yard if it didn't work out?
I guess I'm not really asking anything, just wondered whether anyone has been through similar and what would you advise?
