Eeep, Dubarry boots, have I killed them?

Was out all day in the snow in my Dubarrys, and they kept my feet toasty warm and dry

but they got ever so slightly soaked, and although almost dry today, they are a slightly different colour, lighter and almost water marked

Have I killed them? If I clean/polish them up will they return to normal or have I buggered up the leather?

Any suggestions?

They still function fine

just look a bit worse for wear...

Hopefully if you clean them up and re-waterproof them they should be fine. I've stuck to my muck boots through the snow....didn't want to risk harming my ever so precious dubarrys!

It takes a lot to kill Dubarrys, believe me Im dreadful with mine!

Let them dry out and give them a good clean and reproof and they will be fine.

You might have a salt line on them depending on where you were trudging through snow yesterday, Im not sure if that will come out but you certainly wont have damaged the leather!

Phew

Dont think we came into contact with much salt, theres hardly any grit round here and we were mostly in fields.
Unless snow has salt in

Our snow isnt salty, we havent seen much in the way of gritters either! You boots wil be fine. I dont know how I would cope without mine.....oh and if you are ever asked if you want a birthday or christmas present.....ask for the Dubarry fleece boot liners with the fur tops.....heaven!!!

I was going to mention the salt mark as well. If you clean them throughly & them let them air dry naturally hopefully there should be no marks.

I have been taking the dogs out in the snow with mine & even bagged up some grit & they have not marked. Though I am fastisious about cleaning mine & putting the cream conditioner on them! Do them at least once a week!

Ive rarely cleaned a pair of boots before but these are cleaned once a week

I've worn my dubarry's to many music festivals where the mud and water has been up to the tops of them. Let them dry out naturally and clean them with a bit of leather balsalm and they'll look good as new.

I clean mud etc off mine with a damp sponge, then its normal leather conditioner or saddle soap

Yeah I just use tack cleaner too!

I use Dubarrys own cleaner and conditioner, from their website.
