eeep! first mini ODE on weds!

going to our first ode on weds with pony club was ok about it until they told us it was a real comp with prize giving then we got an e-mail to say we have to wear show jackets cos they want it to b proper! now im really nervous even hough the insructors are helping us through especailly cos of the way he behaved last rally i was on the floor twice and he was rearing before the dressage! he puts his head between his knees when jumping which makes my position more backward any ideas ??

Mmmmmm not sure really as when you smack him he just pucks. Maybe grass strap as then he can't put head down or side reins but not tight, so he can still move head when jumping but to stop him bucking!! x

Do you know why he sticks his head down? As you know he does it are you perhaps expecting it and so not riding him forwards as positively as you might? If he is really going forwards then he will find it alot harder to pull his head right down. What bit do you use? If it gives a bit of poll pressure then this will make things tricky too.

glosgirl- i have tried an egbutt snaffle hes far to strong fo it, i sometimes use a pelham but he doesnt jump as well in in and now i use a dutch gag wich seems good for him
