I'll be up at Holker Hall, in south Cumbria this weekend for the Rayrigg Holker Hall Carriage Driving Trials

(link to original H&H story- http://www.horseandhound.co.uk/news/330/294130.html)

Us competitors have been warned that they are expecting thousands on the Saturday (marathon cross-country day). Apparently there has been lots of publicity in the Cumbria area, and one of the local TV stations is doing news coverage of it this week.

My family are even making the trek after I said that entry for spectators was only £3 per car (they would have thought twice if it was the near £20 per entry that Lowther charged).

Anyway, any tips for blocking out the crowds?

I suspect you will be so busy trying to win they will melt away and you will see only the horses, the course and the winning post!!!!!

Good luck!!

Well I hope so. I'm going to be worried about not making a mistake, rather than winning, with all those people there!

At Windsor a couple of years I ago, I took a split second to look at the crowd and we ended up taking a corrner on two wheels! Thankfully, we went on to win the marathon ;-)
