Dotty The Horrible kicked baby Puz today, right smack in the middle of her chest =[

Puz reared up and kind of sat on her bum before standing up again. I dragged her in and she was eating and drinking fine, the skin hasn't broken and although she is moving away when I poke it shes not reacting like she's broken anything.

She'll be fine right?! Will be back over to see her in an hour or two....

=[

Does the kicker wear back shoes?

Either way, it's bound to be a bit sore, but if the skin's not broken that's good. I'd keep an eye on it and possibly hold a cold water soaked pad on if for a while to help reduce any swelling. She could have half a sachet of bute if you keep any in stock? although it's probably not necessary.

If it looks particularly swollen, get the vet to check it out just in case.

I'm sure she'll be fine though :)

my 17.3 kicked my little horse smack in the chest, albeit with no hind shoes on, but I heard the smack from the other side of the field! The little horse was the same as yours, sound, no outside damage or anything, the next day he had a huge odema that looked like an extra boob(!) but at no pain to him, I just left him with it and it finally went down after a couple of weeks.
I should have thought there may be a little swelling associated and cold hosing or ice packs may help but if she looks happy enough she should be fine.

She is sleeping on the ground in her box quite happily now, I didnt get her up to check her but she let me cuddle and sit with her for a while so I'm guessing she's not too bad.

Yes, Dotty The Horrible has a full set of shoes on. I'm hoping it wasn't full force as Dotty plays the mummy role with Puzzle and normally even when she kicks doesnt do damage...it was just so damn loud from where I was stood!!

Thanks guys. xxxx
