I've posted in more detail in hunting, http://www.horseandhound.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=504899 but it is really quiet in there so thought I might get a better response in here.

I'm taking my youngster to see the hounds tomorrow when the hunt meet within hacking distance. I'm not actually hunting, just hacking to the meet and hacking home after she's seen the hounds and experienced the atmostphere.

Would love any advice/reassurance

Good luck and have fun. This is what I did the first time I took mine out. I would just say if yours gets uptight and fidgety just keep her moving, Walking circles then standing and fussing her. Second she gets fidgety move her on again. She'll soon learn to stand. Find yourself a quiet area where your close enough to the action but not hemmed in another horse / hound comes to close for your horses comfort. Just be aware that she may get a bit upset when you leave the others so watch out for stamped on toes or headbutts. Have a good time.

Thanks, that is helpful! She's a bit of a fidget at the best of times but hoping she'll be slightly tired when we arrive and therefore willing to stand still.

I think leaving the others will be the worst bit, so hoping DH will be there on foot in case I need a lead!
