Eek, just ordered class tickets for BD (insert wibbley face)

Help, I have butterflies and it's over two weeks away.

I've just ordered some class tickets to take Mr D to his first affiliated competition and I've got some dumb 'newbie' questions to ask.

Firstly the lady said I can enter the open or restricted class and that the restricted class would be full of riders who are restricted to that level, and that the open *could* have all sorts of level riders in it. Have I understood that correctly? I should then be entering the restricted class in that case, is that right?

Also does Mr D have to be turned out in a particular way (and me for that matter

) He's a Section D (not that he really looks it) so I tend to make him tidy and poshed up as for showing and then I wear my tweed, shirt and tie with brown gloves, navy hat with flesh coloured harness.
Do i need to wear black jacket, shirt and stock and have him plaited? With white gloves?
And does he need to have a disc on his bridle?

As he is a native you don't need to plait and your clothes will be fine. Good luck and enjoy it!

I am presuming you have not done affiliated dressage before? If that is the case you will be classed as a group 8 rider which means you can enter the restricted section of your class. This is restricted so that no rider who has won points in a higher level class can enter they must only go in the open section.

No you don't have to wear a black jacket tweed is fine, gloves are compulsory but can be of any colour. You need to get a disc to display your number you can get this from BD and most online and offline tackshops.

As for plaiting you don't have to plait particularly as a native we have natives compete locally in their natural state. However if he has a short or unruly mane then it may be better to plait.

I plaited once and didn't sew them so they all unravelled half way through my test

right i presume you are entering a prelim?

if so your gloves will be fine-white is for novice and above. yes you will need a bridle number or one that goes on the numnah.

no need to plait for a native as long as he is smart and you ahve no boots or bandages and a white numnah/saddlecloth.

your attire sounds fine! and yes restricted is your section as you have no points!

you need to be in the restrcted section - i take it you are doing novice? as otherwise if you are doing prelim you dont need a ticket.......

No, i've not

I've been when affiliated classes run along side and been on RC qualifier teams where we went 'au natural'

I guess I can go and see what the turnout is like for next time. (assuming we are not disgraced and banned from going again!) (I'm joking, it will be fine i'm sure, as long as I believe it then it must be true!)

Thanks, that makes sense. Going to do a prelim without the ticket and Novice with. They run a prelim and a novice on one day so going to do both.

It's N25 I think which we've done before.

Bridle number disc thing, tickets and mags all came yesterday! Then I discovered that the entries close tomorrow so there is no going back now!
