Effects if zinc

I'm feeding 10 zinc + vit a human vitamin tablets to my 13yo TB gelding in an attempt to get rid of his sarcoid, which is still growing despite treating with thuja cream and tablets for last 6mths.

My query is what symptoms do they display if they get too much?
He's already on magnicalm as being full tb he can be boisterous but he been on these tablets for 3 weeks now and seems to be acting horny!!
He's always been excitable round other horses, male and female, but now when I handle him he is getting in my face, whinnying at me and biting playfully. I don't want to keep telling him off, but have I caused it feeding the zinc?

Just had a look, I've already read the article, he's not displaying any of the symptoms listed, but it doesn't mention anything about what I'm seeing in my tb.

In humans it has an effect on hormones - as yours is a gelding those hormones should no longer be there.

Have you discussed with the vet about the effects of zinc.

Maybe try toothpaste on the sarcoid and abandon the zinc - the toothpaste experiment thread seems to be having a great deal of success with lots of different people! My vet recommended using toothpaste on my horse's occult sarcoid last week, so he now sports a circle of Crest on his nose.....

Thanks for that much appreciated. Despite his weirdness, the sarcoid looks like its shrunk already in only a few weeks, its much smoother and there is new hair growing at the edges. Fingers crossed xx

Is the sarcoid like a pea can you just squeeze shell it out, if it is long skin like a teat, put a rubber band on it, use aciclovir cold sore cream or toothpaste. I think you need to feed alkaneeze as an acidic stomach is said to be the cause of sarcoids so make the stomach alkaline. Forget these tabs you are giving clearly not working.
