Effol/cornucrescine/kevin bacon - which is best?

Only tried Kevin Bacon and it made no difference whatsoever. Now I don't believe in using hoof dressings any more; hooves are better off without them imo.

i use all 3 but dont see a difference in the hooves at all so use kevin bacon rarely now other than on rio as he has a dry corronet band from where he lived in spain although its much better now :)

i dont really like the way cornucrescine works but it makes a slight difference to their feet and my farrier recommends it and i love the smell...

kevin bacon is a bit of a pain in the winter as its solid but its good for mosturising :)

and effol is very oily so i dont really like using it :)

Depends what you want it for. General hoof health is more effectively treated by diet and balancers etc... the kevin bacon hoof balancer did help my horse. The topical kevin bacon and cornucrescine did not do much and for a dry coronet band the only thing that has any effect is Mega-tek rebuilder which I use on his mane and any rubbed/injured spots

Would never use cornucrescine again after i found out what it does - its not a nice product at all

Can someone enlighten me as to how bad cornurescine is... my vet actually recommended I use this product for hoof growth...

I don't actually use it at the moment - I use Kevin Bacon but was going to use the cornucrescine when the KB runs out.

Ginger witch my farrier said the opposite told me its the only thing that works , and he regarded as one of the best ones in my area, works for horse charity's abroad etc too helping them in poor country's, he has a good reputation.

Yes can someone enlighten me too as I've only heard its good to promote growth and the only thing worth putting on feet.

Cornucrescine is a mild blister. It works by increasing the blood flow to the area where it is applied - it's actually pretty similar to rubbing raw chillis (or Deep Heat) into your cuticles - you would feel a bit of a warm glow.

The issue with it is that it only increases the blood flow to the outer wall of the hoof - it has no apparent effect on deeper and more important structures. So its effect is usually cosmetic - the outer wall (horn, what we see) may grow faster and look better, but the things we need to be stronger (frogs, lateral cartilages, digital cushions, sole thickness and inner hoof wall) are not improved. The only way you can improve them is through exercise and diet :)

He is on a good diet I think - readigrass, lo-cal balancer, speedibeet, linseed, seaweed, salt, haylege and grass

Wench I've ordered some cut heal hoof heal after reading the reviews, sounds like it is what I'm looking for.
