Effol hoof ointment v's Kevin Bacon hoof dressing

Several farriers (very good ones) have independently recommended Silverfeet. It certainly seems effective, and is still on the next day.

Can I ask what people feed with Pro Balance? My mare is currently on pony nuts and chaff, which works well for her. Summer feed she has literally a token for her joint supplement and in winter she has 2 feeds a day. She is a good doer but does tend to lose condition so would it be worth cutting out the nuts and just giving her chaff and pro balance instead?
I am guessing this would also help with her feet

Biotin alone generally isn't enough, especially as UK grazing tends to be high in iron and low in copper and magnesium. Using a proper supplement (like the ones I listed) should make a much bigger difference to the horn. Mine are funny and will eat their supplement in just a handful of straw chaff with a sprinkling of oats.

My boy is on this diet as well as being out 24/7, but it still seems like every summer he goes through a phase of his feet getting very brittle and chipping. I started using KB this year and it made a huge difference.
