Possibly a silly question-

I want an eggbutt snaffle (preferably sweet iron) with copper lozenge but it needs to have small rings (55mm) to avoid sarcoid on face. I can't find what I want anywhere! Horse was previously in exact bit in hanging cheek version. (Shires)

OH (who works with metal) suggested getting another hanging cheek, cutting off top ring and repolishing it. (Apparently, as it's stainless steel, that should be fine). The remaining rings would be quite small, I suppose. Is there any reason why this wouldn't work? The structure of the remaining ring wouldn't be compromised.

Otherwise, does anyone know of where I may find said elusive bit?

Thanks in advance!

Informed bits have a choice of ring size, not sure whether she does one with a copper lozenge though - might be worth a look :)

Have you tried these people http://horsebitbank.com/ they were very helpful when I had a precise specification for a tiny pony's bit. They also made one for a friend of mine who needed something very specific. I emailed them and got a nice personal reply, they seem like nice people.

Thanks for the suggestions.
I've looked for bradoon versions but they don't seem to be available in the combination I want.
If at all possible, I was wanting to avoid paying Sprenger or Neue Schule prices but it looks like I may have to. Umm...

re the cutting down of rings this can work if done well, the chaps where I used to work chopped me down some stainless steel headcollar fixings and it was hard to see where the removed part previously was
