All those in the Aberdeen area please look at the thread in competing sub forum re this - there is no obvious link to the Gloucestershire outbreak and the horse competed at Myerscough recently. Please review any planned events etc over the next few weeks critically and with vets advice.
 
Update is that confirmation is awaited as to whether this is respiratory EHV (nasty but a lot of horses carry it routinely and less serious ) or the neurological strain which has affected the southern yards. Hopefully it will be the former -will update once more news.
 
The vets round here dont seem overly concerned and seem to suggest there's no need for yards to be closing / events being cancelled. Latest from Ardene:-

Equine Herpes Virus (EHV)

"As many of you are aware, there has been a confirmed case of EHV-1 recently in the Aberdeen area.
Although some forms of this virus can be debilitating (such as the recent neurological cases confirmed in Gloucestershire) the form that has been isolated in Aberdeenshire has just presented as a mild respiratory infection in 1 horse.
The yard in question has undergone strict quarantine and monitoring procedures and no further spread has been seen. The yard has managed this isolated case very responsibly.
There has been no recommendation for unaffected yards to quarantine or for any shows or equestrian meets to be cancelled.
All advice and guidance given to all yards and event organiser has been based on the guidelines issued by the Animal Health Trust. Further information regarding these guidelines can be found easily by going to http://www.aht.org.uk/
It is recommended that any new horses joining a yard should be isolated for at least 14 days before mixing with other horses."
