reading the info it suggests that the vaccination is not that effective or is that just me
'their efficacy at controlling respiratory disease is questionable. Vaccination may at least reduce severity and duration of disease compared to unvaccinated horses'
What are peoples thoughts on this vaccination?
I am seeing my vet next week so will ask opinon then but intersted in other views. the article suggests mulitiple vaccines is this standard?
thanks
I don't vaccinate my riding horses against EHV because I don't believe that the vaccine is great at controlling respiratory disease and if they do get it it generally isn't a major problem, but always vaccinate my broodmares at 5, 7 and 9 months. Herpes is knocking about in the general horse population and if they get exposed it's a dead loss.
We always vaccinate our broodmares. And as an extra precaution we keep in foal mares well away from the weanlings and yearlings. Which I would advise if it is possible for you
