my horse was due her EHV today and i had forgot to book it, can i book it for a few days after or does it have to be done on the day it was due?? also if it had to be done when it was due then do i have to re-do all her vaccinations and how much will it cost? please help!!!!

Don't think there are any hard and fast rules with regard to rules for EHV vax in the UK

(unless the FEI have any weird ones) - it's not like 'flu' and jockey club rules which all seem to use - so unless you're doing any fancy competing or planning on exporting you'll be OK a few days out -

this is lifted from the data sheet for Duvaxyn

"Dosage and administration
One dose per horse to be administered by deep intramuscular injection.
Primary course
A single dose should be administered from 5 months of age followed by a second injection after an interval of 4-6 weeks.
In the event of increased infection risk, for example when a foal has consumed insufficient colostrum or there is a risk of early exposure to field infections with EHV-1 or EHV-4, earlier vaccination may be given. In these circumstances the foal should receive a single dose from 3 months of age followed by the above mentioned full primary vaccination course.
Booster
Following completion of the primary course, a single dose should be administered every 6 months.
Use in pregnant mares:
To reduce abortion due to EHV-1 infection, pregnant mares should be vaccinated during the 5th, 7th and 9th month of pregnancy with a single 1.5 ml dose on each occasion."

So we'd go by the data sheet and say either 2 primaries 4-6 weeks apart and a booster around every six months or if for a pregnant mare 5, 7 and 9 months so a few days either way are no problem.

Hope that helps :)

:) yes that helps a lot thanks, i just need to get it done so i can take her to college with me (duchy college rules, they have to have all their vaccinations up to date) and i have only just started looking after and paying for my horse myself so i dont really know everything about vaccinations. thank you so much :D
