I’ve never had any ED rugs before, what’s the verdict on them?
I’m specifically looking at their 600D Turnout with the liners.
Ones come up for sale locally second hand (4 months of use apparently. Looks in good nick).
Would be for my 4yo lad who’s warmblood shaped. Not really looking to buy new for him whilst he’s still growing so the option of just one rug with liners seems good. It’s up for £45 (rrp £95).

Rate or avoid?

I am not familiar with that brand but I am not a fan of 600D rugs generally. They are never really waterproof in heavy rain and rip too easily.
Yeah I appreciate 600d isn’t the greatest! However I’ve had a few 600ds for him already and haven’t had any problems with leaking to be honest, (other than when his field partner ate a whole in it!)

I don't know the brand but I use shires and weatherbeeta with liners any liners fit both, they do have a few shires rugs on that site in the sale for roughly the same price the used one is your wanting to but.

I have used my shires rugs in all weather and they are a good few years old no leaking, I tend to buy 50g and add the liners through the winter.

I've got shires, Derby house and swish liners and they fit on all my turnout rugs and stable rugs, you do often see used ones for sale as well I picked up a few on ebay, but the Derby house ones are only £35 new.

Ah yes I also rate the shires rugs!
This one I’m looking at is a 0g with detachable neck, and a 100g liner and a 200g liner. I think I’m going to take a punt and see how it copes, as it would save me buying multiple rugs!

Sorry derailing slightly, just been scrolling through some old posts on reproofing as I’ve got a few other turnouts that could do with reproofing, and can see that you’ve recommended Fabsil Gold. Is it relatively easy to apply? Also does this effect the breathability of the rugs do you find?
(Sorry, thought it’s easier to ask you on here rather than wake up the old threads!)

I've had an ED rug with liners. Really rated it. It came to an unfortunate and early end when I had it partially on and the old goat got a fright, burst out her stable and galloped off woth the rug trailing...

Oh no!! Glad to hear you liked it though! (The rug, not it’s demise!)

Yes I use the liquid I just tip some in a old bowl and paint on with a paint brush, there is a spray version which is probably easier but not used that.

I don't get all my turnouts cleaned hence why I use liners so I brush the outside of the rug and remove most of the mud and dirt and just apply the Fabsil.

I find they are still breathable and the rain just literally falls off them for ages afterwards I tend to just do mine in Autumn just before I start using them.
