I have a new horse ,
This morning i became the proud owner of lovely 16.1 chestnut gelding 14yo with 122 BE points he sailed through the five stage vetting this morning .
He's come for me to have fun on I feel very excited and very lucky .
He's staying put on the yard he's on for a short while and I 'll go and ride him most days as he adjusts to his new easy role in life .

My immediate plan is too check there's are no ejector seat buttons I have not found so far and to get to know him a little while he's still on the pro yard .
Then do some clinics and head towards some lower level open classes .
I feel privileged to own him he is very lovely ,a great jumper and so grateful to MRGS for stumping up to buy him so I can have a last blast of horsey fun.
He's in great shape for his age the horse I mean not MrGS well he's not in bad shape either .
The horse has always been in pro environments I hope he finds the step to a family home easy that's my worry that he might not like our little quiet yard.
I still can't quite believe it .

Blah blah, where are the pics woman! :p

That's great news! He will LOVE being in a quieter more relaxed environment and I am sure you will lavish attention on him anyway. Lucky boy and have fun with him!

Congratulations, definitely need pics!

It's so exciting when you get a new horse. Having always had young horses I hadn't had any for years as my son's ponies and then horses took over. I rode his horses a little especially when he was at uni but my health took a downward turn and everything stopped. A lovely horse then arrived on the yard to sell and I thought sod it, I'm going to have a sit on him! I totally fell for him and long story short he's now mine, not what I'd have bought myself in the past but just what I need now - I call him my grannymobile! He's now 14, an ex eventer, not as many points as yours GS, just a mere 11 but totally sound, safe and sensible (most of the time!) without being boring. He's my last equine hurrah and I'm having lots of fun so far. GS I hope your boy gives you just as much fun - regular updates will be required!

Thank you all for your good wishes .
It's been a big decision probably the biggest I have made as he's likely to be my last horse, I hope I have got it right .
Just trying to sort out saddlers and stuff like that .
I will probably cover the move with gastroguard to be on the safe side and take my forage to the yard so he can have half and half for a few days before he finally comes home .
Fatty is being evicted to the foaling box so the new one has maximin company as he's used to big yards .
He's very fit for the work he's been doing recently,we had a hard job getting his heart rate up at the vetting so I will try to let him down a bit .

Very excited for you.

I am on my second "last eventer". Admittedly I am not doing so much as I did, but having a wonderful horse just lifts the spirits anyway.

Mine had always been on big pro yards, and he loves his quiet place. How do I know? He used to be stressed and unsettled, now he is happy as Larry, and twice as fat!

What are you plans for this year?

Do some clinics spend time with the dressage trainer and get to know him and him me and perhaps aim for some open PN and open novices perhaps if I am enjoying it .
Just have fun really .
I am a clinic junkie and need to keep riding J has been hunting and needs a shoeing break , so I decided I needed another to be my summer horse it's complete overkill but there are no pockets in a shroud so what the hell .
Those after pictures if you do a google image search for Power Line Horse there are some pictures of him.

Perfect colour ;-)

Is that him being ridden by Oli Townend at Isleham HT? If so, very nice indeed!

As you say, no pockets in a shroud. If you can, then go for for it. Great stuff.

Yes that's him.
Theres a good one of him showjumping further down.
