Anyone on here going? I should be going in the Novice with Monty if the ground is ok... we've had rain in notts today and yesterday... but is there anyone in staffordshire on here that can confirm any rain there please? Or does anyone know what the ground is like on Eland's course?

xx

I'm about 5 mins away from Eland, we had a good down pour yesterday and its raining again as I type this.

The forecast for here is rain on and off for most of the week.

I live at Eland. It rained here all day yesterday and has been raining for around 3 hours so far today and is still raining now! More forecast for tomorrow and Thursday. Its obviously going to take a lot of rain to make the ground soft again, it was all aereated with 2 different machines 2 weeks ago so the rain should go into the holes to help soften it, we also havent mowed the grass for some time (not that its grown much!) so theres a nice covering of grass

Hi Mandymoo, I am going with Reo in the intro class, I am glad its rained and there are usually take offs and landings. Hopeing the penny will start to drop for Reo in that he is a big boy now and doesn't need to stay with his friends

I'm on the waitlist for the novice, fingers crossed!

I'm around 25 mins from Eland, and have had a lot of rain today and yesterday, with more forecast! Elands ground is normally good anyway and has all weather take offs, so hopefully it will be good on Sunday! :)

Made a mistake, just checked and I am doing the novice class to:) its a bad sign when you lose track of which class you have entered.

I'm going to do the mini :D Lil's capable of alot more but its a first HT for both of us so wanted to take it nice and easy and just enjoy it.

We'll be easy to spot, she'll be the crazy black beast having a prance...

ahh thanks for replies guys :D glad to hear there has been some downpour to soften the ground up a bit... i'll make my judgements when i walk the course on saturday :)

i'll try and look out for you lot going! I'll be pretty easy to spot... big chestnut with red insulation tape on his boots.. and i'll be wearing navy/red/white xc colours :D

see you all there! xx

I'm going too so am pleased to hear we've had rain there as its been raining lots here, woop woop :D though to be honest competed there just over a week ago and the ground was fine IMO on the XC course.

More rain today!! Times are now online too!! 111 people in the novice this time!!! Courses are the same as the last hunter trials except for Novice fence 4 (log pile next to the sharks teeth last time) which is now a smaller triangular log pile

ah i'll see you there pigeon! :D

thanks glitterfuzz! i'll go look at times now!! :) ooo 111? thats a lot, ah well...lots of competition then ;) haha.. and im happy to hear fence 4 has changed, didn't like it too much last time (although, monty had no problem with it.... just a rider frightener i think!)

see you all of sunday! (or sat for course walk!)

xx

ahh, close to me then! i'm at 1:20pm (also civilised :D). will no doubt see you in the warm up! xx

p.s. does anyone know if it is ok to walk the course quite late on saturday? say... 7-8pm?

oo starbucks! you're JUST after me!! :D you'll see my awful setting off ;) i'm always terrible over the first 2 or 3 fences... takes me a while to get into a rhythm!!

will see you near the start gate then! ;) x

the previous fence 4 (log pile) was in the novice last year but was near the mini trakehner just before the allsorts fence and no one ever mentioned it. For the last hunter trials it was moved next to the sharks teeth (which actually measure just under 90cm) and lots of people complained about it!! Its under 80cm!

Also those of you in the Novice class, the hanging log near to the trakehner complex has been moved to a cutting through some trees not far after the pheasant feeders, I have put an arrow on a post near the owl hole fence pointing in the direction of the jump as you dont have to go over the bridge past the trakehners

hes a little film of where it is!! http://www.facebook.com/?ref=home#!/video/video.php?v=448505148551

yep catch you in the warm up then :D and ooh starbucks after you, we can have a mini HHO meet then.
Thanks K, can't understand why people complained about the log pile? and thanks for the vid of where the hanging log is now, why have they moved it, we liked motoring over the bridge and taking it at an angle :D

good video, thanks glitterfuzz :) but totally agree with pigeon - loved racing round the corner and jumping it on an angle  ;) haha

hmm bizarre, even little hairy jumps that log pile no problems as can be seen in his signature pics, bottom row second left , ha ha on inspection only 1 of those pics is not from Eland ....
