Ok so am after some advice please? there is a mini HT class at Eland Lodge in 2 weeks time where the fences are a max of 2'3". Me and sis are thinking of entering it. Has anyone done the course and if so what is it like?
We are going to Somerford Park for the farm ride again tomorrow so intend to have a good play in preparation for Eland Lodge. Do you think we should enter?

mmmmm I think enjoy is a bit of an understatement

should I base it on if he goes well tomorrow that we should enter?

might just have to enter then, but just to be on the safe side will see how he goes tomorrow. Am aiming to do lots of different fences and jump them with no lead. Last time we went we only jumped 4 fences and had no lead and he was fab

you don't think I'd be overdoing it with his leg?

If you've been given the all clear by the vet that I don't think it should bother him. I'm sure he'll alert you if it's causing him any trouble and you can just withdraw. TBH it isn't all the different to a fast hack - just with a few leaps en route and if he can manage a gallop and SJ - i'm sure he'll cope fine with hunter trials

vet is very very happy with his progress

as am I

Thanks for that, I think he would cope fine and if he wasn't he'd let me know, trouble is don't think I'm fit enough

will have to get my butt in gear I think

I am a livery at Eland, so have schooled around loads of times. Not been around for weeks though because of the bad weather and preparation for BE which ran this week.

so as a seasoned Eland Lodger

what are the fences like? do you have to open and shut a gate? are there steps water etc? If you could let me know that would be great and would help me make my mind up whether to enter or not.

The previous Mini HT course (it might change a little as they did a load of work for the recent BE) was:
1. steeplechase fence
2. log
3. steeplechase fence
4. house (causes lots of stops)
5. sheep feeders (a double)
6. roll top
7. pheasant feeder (causes lots of stops)
8. log
9. sunken road
10. log
11. descent (no steps) down the brick kiln
12. water splash
13. 2 logs
14. ditch (causes some stops)
15. green-painted log (Bill the Crocodile)
16. log pile.

I had more trouble on the recent BE Intro on my fence with horses spooking at the sight of the a Novice fence (Owl Hole) than with people jumping my jump.

Think I saw you guzzling the champers and stoking up the BBQ.............. fence 8??

I was on a black horse and I shouted to you as I went past.

Was a great day

You intrigued my friend/fellow judge and the yard manager, who had popped over to visit. I didn't hear it!

I am BBQ'ing again now.

woah that's fab thanks ever so much
