Had an early start this morning as we were off at 10.16am and sis and Sunny at 10.18am.
Warmed up and Pidge carted me over the warm up fence 3 times so chilled him out - on reflection should have kept going but hey ho you live and learn

Jumped the brush well, then the log and then ground to a halt at the steeplechase fence, represented and popped it fine. napped left all the way down the hill cue me giving him a couple of kicks to get him motivated

popped the house nicely and walked through the water, picked up again and ground to a halt at the slatty fence, fine next time round and over the sheep feeder. trotted round the corner as it was a bit muddy and then he wasn't sure which fence he was going over so stopped at the hanging log, popped it fine next time and then just took off with me
shocked.gif
flew over the pheasant feeder, romped up the hill and over the wibbly log, walked down the muddy slope and turned over the two steps and as we came out towards the brick fence had to yell "MOVE" as the girl in front had stopped at that one. Pidge was grand and just popped it as though she wasn't there
smile.gif
walked down the small steps and then picked it up again. cantered through the water and over the upturned boat and then we were off at a pretty reasonable gallop, over the double of log - naughty Pidge put one stride in instead of two

over the trakhener, over the crocodile, over the log pile and then flew over the last

Depsite our 3 refusals and our 3 small breathers we did the course in 6.06 and the optimum time was 5.06 and much better than last time when we went clear but in just over 7 minutes.
So despite the fact we had 3 refusals - all down to me not him
blush.gif
- I am actually really pleased with how he went as he motored round the majority of the course and I think I just had him too switched off before we started so valuable lesson learned for me
crazy.gif
finished about 25 out of 54, there were only 12 clear rounds in total. Really pleased with him as he cantered through the water and jumped the upturned fence with absolutely no hesitation at all
smile.gif

So does it ever get easier on how to prep before an event or do I stay a numpty for the rest of my life?
crazy.gif
just never seem to get it quite right

Saw Deefa and the gorgeous Harry from fence 3 onwards and he looked to be giving her a lovely ride

only 3rd time XC according to the commentator too

Sorry we didn't catch up with you but took the opportunity to go when a gap appeared in front of us as the parking was a bit tight!
Big thanks to Will and Helen for acting as grooms as Mum and Dad are on a cruise and Mooch is on hols

thanks it's only this year we've started doing things like this (did 2 small HT's at the end of last year) so it's still early days. And don't worry I'm a big chicken hence doing the mini course at 2' -2'4" despite the fact Pidge makes 3' seem easy
tongue.gif
and oh yes I was so pleased to get round in one piece
smile.gif

Yes was a fun day, only got a couple of photos on friends phone but OMG the pro photos are fabulous
smile.gif
there's one of us doing the second part of the double of logs and he is giving it so much height it is unbelievable
shocked.gif
definately need to get braver and jump him bigger
grin.gif

Just sorting my report, will be up in a few mins

we had a good vantage point as we were in the photo lorry
grin.gif
