Well I think my horse must be part duck. Horrendous weather, rain all day, but the organisers had made alot ofeffort to ensure the ground was as good as possible, and overall was enjoyable if wet!
G horse had his moments, he unloaded himself off the lorry backwards, I turned my back for 30seconds to get his Sjing boots out of the living, turned round and he was hot footing it off to the XC warm up on his own!
But, other than a few "hiccups" had a good day.
Did a nice test after being a devil horse round the boards, napping jogging and generally being evil, but switched into a rideable accurate beast as soon as we stepped foor in the boards and scored a very pleasing 30.6
Sjing was small but "looky", he had the first down as he wasnt looking where he was going, and the first part of the double because he only realised 2 strides out the fence was there, and a stride out that it was a double! Cue back legs dangling! So 8 faults.
Decided to run XC, was wet but tought would treat it as a training run, had walked the course and thought a bit unfair that the black flag to the water meant 20penalties automatically, so was expecting to pick up penalties anyway as G isnt confident jumping into water down a step yet, as its not something we have really worked on!
Anyway, he warmed up like a man possessed, and gave me a amazing ride. Really bold, straight and where I pushed on (few places because of ground!) he responded. Took direct route through water, felt I hadnt got anything to loose, and he jumped in beautifully!
Finished the course with plenty left in the tank.
So, even though we gotlots of time penalties, because alot of people had stops XC and we had a fab dressage score, we came 3rd!
Very pleased with my horse,a nd chuffed with his fitness and attitude at the mo!
Thanks for reading, no pics as noone would brave the nasty weather!!
