Eland Lodge or Kirriemuir.......

Eland isnt that straight forward! There are simpler first time courses. However, dressage arenas are nice, Sjing is on a surface and the XC is lovely, but does ask a few questions

Lmao! Its not scary, honestly! Jumped it 3 times now, and never had a problem, its jumps really really nicely. The big broken bridge though...

Oh my god would never do that one! I think the problem with the little one is i walked up to it and looked over with my mum stood the over side! Made it look huge!!!!
I think i need to follow a nice brave horse over so i can shut my eyes and then id be fine!!!

both of the horses are experienced and i've done up to PN. I am based in cumbria but there is no where to run realy on. Any one know of any other North events?

You'd be fine with Eland then, is a nice event

Not tricky, just not that straight forward for first run!! Arley hall is in Cheshire I think? Somerford is aswell, thats all can think of at the mo....

I'm doing Kirrie intro as my first this season. It's dead straight forward as long as it hasn't changed much since last year. The only techincal thing is there is a corner but there is an alternative there. Water is lovely: big but inviting, I really shouldn't speak too soon though!

I probably walked right past you then as I passed some people getting ready to go on the XC.

Nah, was there helping friends on the "have a go dressage" comp. Made good use of spare time to go and have a nosey

Havent ventured out with nag to XC school there yet this year, and entered the April BE now, so dont think will get time before the "deadline" before an event. Any tips of new "challenges"?!

Not sure as most of them are still works in progress. The jumps above the Brick Kiln are being replaced. There will be a nice surprise for the BE Novice competitors at the water jump. The far oak is having something done to it and the table top logs have all been removed and there are some telegraph poles there.

There is a rumour of a "phase 2" to be implemented before the 2nd BE.

Ah ok, I saw the new PN and NOv trakehners that have gone up over the winter, and the usual "nest" in the water was still in storage so presumed that would make an appearance

Do they use the "bank" with the ditch in front where they make the "coffin" type fence to the right of the hill by the sharks teeth?

Im doing kirriemuir as my 1st 1 this season i did it last year and it was pretty straight forward ive also done Eland lodge though that was the year before last and it was very sraight forward as well! So couldn't say 1 was easier than the other! Both quite hilly courses, sj is on a surface at eland. Go to whichever one is nearer!

I'll be going to Kirriemuir. Its a really nice course. Ran there last year Intro, and again the RC Area comp. The corner is a bit scary if you haven't done one before, and the alternative is quite beefy!
Having finished with 2 PN's last year, I think i'll run Intro again, but will have a bash at the corner.
Watch out for the 2nd last though, lots of horses run out at it, think because its painted white.

My instructor is trying to sort out a training session for me and a few others at Eland on 16th March. Let me know if you fancy tagging along?

Thanks for the offer
