Went on Wednesday. As some of you may know we`ve been having a few problems where I`ve now been told that my horse is taking the p*ss. When she ran out, I just growled at her and she is doing it more often. Well I have been told to give her a smack.
Also been working on our canter, a more forward energetic canter. The first thing is the first fence, she has stopped at the first fence in the last 4 times we`ve been in the ring!

Also been stopping at doubles, then getting 1 1/2 strides in a 1njs distance. Just basically getting it wrong.
Went into the ring at Eland and fences were from 2`9"-3ft. Friend was there and shouting at me to put weight into heels on the way into fence and keep canter.
Well, we went clear. There were 2 doubles, one with 1njs and one with 2njs. Spot on with both. Well chuffed.
The jumps were put up to 3ft - 3`6". First fence, I was too relaxed, saw a sh*t stride and just sat there! Stopped dead in front of the fence. Friend said that at least she didn`t run out. (supposed to be better than running out).
Smacked her and took her again, friend said that I also lost impulsion on the approach. So got good canter back and set off again. This time no problems but rolled a pole on a spread.
Very pleased with her as it was much better. It was outside on the arena and it is a nice size. We have been going to Markfield indoors and it is quite small there and I think that I haven`t been riding her forwards and watching the videos, I started to check her into almost every fence instead of riding her forwards and trusting her.
Sorry this is a little indulgent but I am in a good mood.
And can`t wait for the summer season, not long now.

Well thats just fantastic news lesley!!!!!

Its good to hear you have got the nice forward canter and she is being a good girl now she knows mummy kicks arse now hehe.

The stop is much better than running out so well done to you les for not allowing her to do that- something im working on at the moment with my new instructor!.

Do let me know how you get on out on the next outing im keeping an eye out for your posts!

Hi Claire, I am pleased with her this week. Our talks have done me good too. I will catch you over the weekend on MSN as I have put the other video on PB too. The last one at Markfield.

Stay up beat and postive becuase you are both very good and that forward canter will help no end as roxy is balanced enough for turns and it will help going into those doubles.

Its a great feeling when things go well, keep at it you will be up in the ribbons again soon lesley.
