I live at Eland Lodge and keep our website up to date. I have updated the cross country course page to show the courses for the April 2009 BE event. Go to the link below, scroll down the page and click on the relvant course.

I will add pictures of the new fences as they are moved out on to the course. If anyone would like any info please feel free to ask. We also have a Facebook group that is regularly updated with news, info and pictures

Thanks Katy, I've entered the PN as our first one but am aware it's being turned the other way round totally! Just hope it's not too difficult...... look forward to the course updates

Think I may trundle along to the Easter Egg hunt for a nosey before hand!

Thanks glitterfuzz - looks like the course has changed direction an some new fences added in - will the horseware HT follow the same kind of course?

Is the XC going to be open for schooling once the BE event has been on ?

The course will be running in the opposite direction to last year. The pictures I have added are in course order.
Many of the original fences have been altered so that the course can be run in both directions so pictures of the palisade to ditch show what will be the landing side of the fence. (will take new pics asap!) The double trakehners have also been altered so that the landing/takeoffs are the same on both sides of the fence so they are a lot less evil! No trakehner in the BE100 this year either

if its helps.... fences without pictures in the BE100

fence 2 - log pile: Picture of Novice jump - PN is the same but smaller http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=1987493&l=0e9a774608&id=516438551

fence 3 - tiger trap - traditional tiger trap fence (no ditch under it)
fence 5 - It Takes Allsorts - PN fence will be 1 effort, up to height box like jump painted to look like a bassetts allsort!
pictures of allsorts and stile fences being built http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=2233121&l=a50403ac1b&id=516438551
fence 7 - Forest fence - silver birch rail fence made to look like a woodland fence - into the woods
fence 8 - log cabin: not yet built so not sure on the design yet - will be on the new woodland track
fence 9 - stile: triple rail triangular shaped jump out of the new wood track

The hunter trials will be following a similar course, however the new woodland track will only be used for BE this year. The course should be open for schooling after BE if the ground is ok

We are hoping to be able to alternate the course in different directions so that its not the same for every competition.

Theres a skinny Pig Arc in the BE100, its one thats been on the course for several years so nothing new. None of the new fences are skinnies. The Stile out of the woods is not as wide as some fences but its still a decent width and wouldnt be considered as a skinny.

The BE100 will be going down the smaller set of steps and over the rail, hedge straight ahead at the bottom (prob about 4/5 strides from the steps).
http://87.237.62.35/events/crosscountry/Brick%20Kiln%20Complex.htm pics - steps are shared with BE90 and the rail was in last year Novice (its not huge) BE90 will be going up the steps, BE100 down the steps

I think this years BE100 is quite fair compared to last year when the trakehner was in the course. No ditches! (except on the landing side of the palisade but your horse wont see that til its over!)

Fab, the PN sounds lovely, though gutted the trakehner isnt in it, sounds like it has been "softened" a bit

Thank you for that, very helpful!!

Like you, I would prefer the trak to be in it, we like those! Also want skinnies on tight lines - time to move up to Novice again I suppose! Although will prob stay PN until after B's exams - she is working so hard she doesn't need any extra stress.

The "It Takes Allsorts" fence in the Novice is going to be a double of skinnies (or a double of corners if you take a straight route). You will be able to ride the 2 skinnies on a dog leg line straight on or jump the corner of each on a direct route. Not sure if they will be flagged with the corner option yet.

Thanks for that. I was looking into the hunter trials yday and was wondering about the fences.
Sorry to pick your brain but what size is the mini again and what size is the novice?
Bit stuck as never done a hunter trials although he's going well at xc training at the mo so stuck between doing the mini or doing the novice pairs so i've got a lead. Hmm. Argh decisions

Is your course open for hire?
Thanks for the info x
