Well, yet another good day for me and Monty
set off for Eland and arrived with plenty of time to run over the course again in my head (which i thought was a nice course to be honest, i did the Novice class, although when walking it, just before fence no.13 there was a big skinny log (not in the course, just at the side) which i was worried Monty would spook at!)
Tacked up, warmed up. Monty felt fab... quite strong in the warm up (but he always is quite strong and leany in warmups... once im out on the course he always settles into a rhythm and carries himself). Went to the start box and set off; He really pulled me to no.1, a nice brush fence, and sailed over that... flew down the hill and round to no.2 popped it nicely. Then i let him open out towards fence no.3, a palisade, which he did have a look at but he jumped it fine. Up over no.4 the log pile which he jumped fine (on a bit of a long one...). stepped up onto the island and jumped over the drop/ditch fine.. popped the rails at 6 and the box at 7 fine. Over the bridge (he did spook at the bark chippngs
silly boy! Jumped no.8 the log fine and flew through the water and boat at 9 and 10! up through the steps at the lime kiln (we'd got into a really nice rhythm now).. popped the brick wall and came round the 'woody' bit near fence 13 where there was the unused log at the side... monty sees it as he comes round the corner and stops dead!
haha.. i nearly toppled off
oops lol!
but he got over the scaryness of it and carried on once we got past it..so popped over 13 a b and c fine and came flying down to the pheasant feeders at 14. Jumped the next log fine and the hay racks at 16 lovely... then through the splash and over the roll top, flew over the houses at 18... came absolutely bombing up and over the hill to the last 2 fences which he flew on perfect strides
felt great! i do like this xc lark every now and then
So waited a verrrrrrrrrrry long time for the results...but found out we were 9 seconds too fast of the optimum time, but came in third!!
verry pleased with my 20 year old boy
bless him, he just takes me round haha! Bought a nice photo too, over fence 3... although, my face isn't particularly attractive on it...but Monty looks good
so i'll post that when it's delivered if you guys are interested?
thanks for reading, big bag of kettle chip crisps are on offer for anyone who fancies them?
didn't manage to see any HHOers today...MAY have spotted one... rider no.109? but wasn't sure so didn't feel brave enough to say anything
lol!
