elasticated grackle bridle

Does anyone have the Shires Chester bridle?

It comes with a grackle noseband that is elasticated...

I don't understand how this would work?!?! Surley the idea of the grackle is to prevent them from crossing their jaws... but if its elasticated?

If any one has one or knows if it works or not and what the qquality is like i'd be interested in hearing it. I need a grackle bridle for my girl but don't want to waste my money on something that won't work or will break!

Got one! The grackle works fine - just gives a bit extra flex.....but....the straps are quite thin and the holes for the buckles are quite big and it seems to have almost split the leather despite lots of balsam and neatsfoot before use.

i have one but dont use it no more as it is to big for my mare! it hasnt broke or nothing and it works fine just gives a little.

I really like mine - it hasnt cracked or anything and is 3 years old now.

i do however drown all my new bridles / saddles in neatsfoot oil for 3 days before i use it.

I think they are a bit kinder the fixed Grackles as they have a bit of give in them.

When I brought mine you had to buy the whole bridle but now they sell the nose band separately.

OK i have ordered said new bridle.... now what do i do to it when it arrives?? Ah feeling a bit novicy! But i have never bought a bridle before....

Do you have to treat it before you use it?
