Hi all,

has anyone had any experience of dogs having blood in their wee?

She has had a few urinalysis samples taken ( including a Cystocentesis), scans, ultra sounds and was treated for what was suspected to be UTI with antibiotics ( didn't respond to this) and a blood test. Nothing abnormal has been found on these!

The specialist vet can only think it could be a small tumour in her urethra. The vet has advised against going in as they don't think it's in the best interest of our dog ( senior dog between the age of 12- 15) and it would cause her pain.

They have advised to monitor her and have 3 monthly blood tests to make sure she doesn't become anaemic.

Thanks in advance

We had a not so elderly Rottweiler with similar symptoms, initially treated for a UTI. She had a scan which showed that she had a bladder tumour. We treated it conservatively with very effective pain relief and she had a further very happy 6 months. We took the decision to pts just before last Christmas when she was beginning to get grumpy with the other dogs and not wanting to lie on their beds with them. She wanted to go for a walk but didn't run/play with the others much, so we decided that it was time.

Sorry you had to put her to sleep, glad she had a further 6 months of happiness! Thank you for sharing, she'll be put to sleep if we feel she is no longer happy or in too much pain
