I'd like something that can run off DD batteries for a little 'pen' or a car battery for greater range. I don't need anything really REALLY powerful but would like it to be useful if I need to split a paddock one day.
Been looking on eBay but am most baffled! Other site recommendations also welcome!
Thanks

The Fenceman CP250 is good, has a built in earth stake so you just stamp it into the ground - box and all! You can run it off a leisure battery (leads included) or off PP batteries that are inside it.
It is quite a powerful one though so dont know if it is bigger than what you need?
If you get one though I would advise covering it with a bucket as they can get water in them after a while but wouldnt imagine you would have a problem with that as you dont live in sunny England!

I've had my eye on the fenceman CP250

for postage purposes though I think I'd rather have one without the earthstake attached. I've got one here already, in any case. Good tip about covering with bucket. It does rain sometimes here, especially in summer

horizont make the "scout" unit, runs off 9v or 12v hotline have one coming out next year.
i can't think of one that runs off d cells and 12v though.

I can recommend the Wolseley Mosquito fencer, runs of any battery 6 to 12 volts, ideal for polywire or horse tape. It is sealed construction, very resistant to water. Ideal way to use, is from a 12 volts lead acid battery, but keep a good PJ996 lantern battery handy, so when it is time to recharge the big battery, run it from the PJ996, then put the big one back on. Loads around in use and very reliable...
