Hi everyone, please help!! I have a 15.3 cob who needs an ASBO! He has discovered that he can push through my electric fence, it started at end of last winter, I even stripped him of his rugs but to no avail - I have upgraded my energiser and the other horses get enough of a sting from it to respect it but he leans against it and his skin just twitches when the current gets him!! He is just about unstoppable - I'd love to know what tried and tested energisers other people use. It would have to be run off a 12v battery as I have no mains power.

Thanks!!

We used to have one that did the same, we got the zappiest energiser we could find and ran it off a truck battery - only did it once, then never ever felt the need again

Hi - yes I think he would only need a couple of zaps!! He is a bit thick so I don't think just one zap would work!! Have borrowed an energiser from the guy who brings my haylage - it's quite a strong one - going to try it tomorrow! But looking for one to purchase and the selection is confusing to say the least - just wondered what everyone else uses. Thx for your reply

If you have not got a tester, I would invest in one ... mine punches out 7 thousands volts .... I used to test it with my hand, but got fed up with defibulating myself

To ensure you get the best out of your energiser always keep the electric rope/tape clear of any folliage/weeds otherwise you'll lose a lot of power to earth.

Ensure that you have a good earthing rod that is at least 1 mtr long & sunk well into the ground.

Leisure batteries are the best to power the energiser as they are specifically designed to be drained & then re charged. If you do this too many times with a car/lorry battery you will damage the cells.

Mole Valley do a good selection of energisers etc at very competative prices.

Thanks for all your comments - the borrowed energiser seems to be doing the trick - he now knows how to stand a millimetre away from the fence without getting zapped, before he just leaned on it - he must have some brain cells which I'm not giving him credit for!! Can go to work now without keeping one eye on my mobile for calls from my neighbour.
