So lately I have gone through two packs of the newer poles! Its doing my head in, they snap so easily!

I am using Rutland fencing poles and generally they are £14.99 for 10.

Anyone have any ideas of better stronger ones. Pigtails into the posts are no use they dont keep him far enough away from stock fencing.

Getting exasperated 😂

I have bought from Equestrian co, i have used their black ones before and not broken them, cheap 20 for £26 including p&p. Not sure on strength as the horses/donkeys haven't walked through them yet, but cheaper if you need to replace.

Keep an eye on farm auctions. I got 40 used ones for £30, and two bundles of tape for £10 (I realise I'll need to test all of it). Just an energiser and gate handles to source now.

I must have been lucky , I've just looked on ebay for the cheapest & bought the 4' posts. I've normally bought the cheapest they sell, normally buy 20 at a time. Over the years I've had some damaged but 'touch wood' they've mainly been good. I buy green posts & green tape because it isn't noticed that much from the house so a more pleasing look.

I use these for corners -

Voss also used to do the same size posts in red (metal) without the extra sturdy bottom and I use them for spacing intermittently between plastic posts - although I can’t see them in the website any more :(

Edited to add you can place the insulators where you like and choose how many rows of tape you have. I have 4 rows on the ones for my escape artist!

If it's being used as part of a permanent boundary fence ( ie not being moved for strip grazing etc ) we just nail the electric tape on to the wooden fencing post ( broad headed tacks help prevent the tape tearing ) . If using more than one line of tape on your fence , run a strip of tape vertically down one wooden fence post and tack each horizontal strip of electric tape to it where it crosses , to electrify all the strips of tape ( much easier/more reliable than the flimsy/fiddly conecters ) . Just make sure it isn't in contact with any metal ( gates , troughs etc ) !

Im assuming they are chatting over the fence and possibly the tape is getting caught on his rug buckle..
he needs to stay far enough away from the stock fence as he has a habit of pawing his feet 🙄
Mine have a few streamers of tape on their buckles now so if they get too close it clicks/zaps. Completely stopped that problem!
