Hello,

I currently have an un-fenced garden and am not able to fence it (rented from an estate) it backs on to fields or a lane.

I cant let my dog out unsupervised because of this, I don't think the estate would fence it and i don't have the money to dog so in a fashion that they would deem acceptable.

Has any body use electric fencing for their dog(s)?

Any help/advice appreciated

Thank you

Yes, in an indirect way. We have to fence off the boundary of our 7 acres to keep out the s0dding bunnies. A secondary benefit is that it keeps the JRT in - he has learned that it bites.

We use this - https://www.electricfence-online.co.uk/super-rabbit-net-9-strand-93810004.html

You’d need taller netting for a bigger dog, but IME it is very effective. It does need a powerful energiser.

Years ago my dog ran his wet nose into a strand of sheep wire - yelped all the way back to me and never left my side for several minutes so, yes, it can be very effective. Depends on how big the dog is and how motivated he is to get through.

I've got some chicken netting, not sure how (bottom strands insulated?) but it doesn't earth itself out if it is touching the ground so that might be an idea. Some on here are 50m long https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_...g.TRS0&_nkw=electric+poultry+netting&_sacat=0

Or there are the systems you lay along the ground activated by a sensor on the dogs collar https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Dog-Coll...hash=item4b5ec87c73:m:mYobGclTZZtiPNRl7egW-IQ

My friend used to have a pen in her garden for her dogs to wee and poo in as she didn’t like them on her grass. Was just the lower 4 foot fencing and not that big

we had a freedom fence on the yard, the trouble being with them being that given the right stimulus a dog will run through it which wouldn't be the case with actual netting. But actual netting doesn't look great and can be pricey depending on area.

JillA with netting usually the bottom line has no wire in it so no earthing.

Have a look on UKCountrystore for netting, or eBay. An interesting fact is that dogs don’t generally go over electric fences, they believe the current goes all the way up to the sky!

I have netting to keep my pigs in/dogs out. It’s mains powered and nobody goes near it.
